Also, let me be clear that Dr. Doty’s strict notion of confidentiality does not apply to himself. When it suits Dr. Doty’s fancy, he ignores the “strict confidentiality” he imposes on others. Dr. Doty gleefully characterized me as a liar to an untenured assistant professor during a period of time when he was proposing to the Director of the School of Accounting to undertake an investigation of my professional ethics because he disapproved of the subject of one of my research projects.   Given Dr. Doty’s contempt for academic freedom, regardless that it is touted in the University’s mission statement, it is not difficult to deduce which of Dr. Doty’s friends and sycophants he was trying to protect from criticism.  Nevertheless, the project which he characterized as containing lies and as being in violation of professional ethics has since received revise and rewrite instructions from an editor--also a CoB A-level journal.
Confidentiality - Uses and Abuses
Dr. Doty clearly had no idea what the research project was actually about, never talked to me about it, but said it was a “pathetic attempt to mis-represent the truth.”   As is usual with the thoughtless exercise of power, he provided no evidence in support of this libel. Instead, he preferred to slander me to junior faculty, all the while violating the level of confidentiality he imposes on faculty who dare disagree with him.  (Click for next page.)
