Confidentiality - Uses and Abuses
I respectfully suggest that confidentiality is meaningless to administrators except to advance their personal aims. Like tin-pot dictators everywhere, questions are not tolerated and force -- in this case bludgeoning faculty with confidentiality -- is substituted for open discussion. Administrator Doty selectively ignored confidentiality to suit his personal purposes without any disciplinary repercussion from his fellow administrators. But he will, in a heartbeat, threaten you with disciplinary action for any perceived violation of confidentiality.

A thorough review of confidentiality is long overdue. Administrators have proved that they cannot be trusted with their version of confidentiality.
